Ethiopia Champions Innovative Health Financing in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG – An Ethiopian delegation recently participated in a high-level regional technical meeting on Innovative Health Financing held in Johannesburg South Africa. Co-organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Fund the three-day summit focused on building resilient health systems across the continent.

Representing Ethiopia the delegation highlighted the country's successful implementation of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and ongoing health policy reforms. The team engaged in extensive discussions with global financial heavyweights including the World Bank the African Development Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to explore new funding mechanisms—such as blended finance and social impact bonds—aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage.
