Who We Are
Liyana Universal Community Service (LUCS) is a federally registered, board-led non profit organization, established in September 2025 in accordance with Ethiopia’s Civil Society Proclamation. Founded by Dr. Girma Ababi and W.ro Emebet Shifaw, we are dedicated to working in the public interest across Ethiopia.

What We Do
Operating across five Ethiopian regions, LUCS strengthens health systems and community well-being through prevention, care, and systemic support. It also empowers future leaders by partnering with local schools, guided by four strategic pillars:
Injury & Trauma Prevention
Community education to reduce the risk of injuries and trauma, strengthening pre-Hospital care for trauma cases
Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
promoting healthy lifestyles, creating awareness on NCDs and their risk factors, advocating for the control of harmful substances.
Mental Well-being Initiatives
Launch public awareness campaigns to raise awareness of mental health issues and improve community understanding. Implement targeted workshops to build emotional intelligence and stress coping mechanisms among young people. Provide training to frontline h
Supporting local health systems for integrated screening, diagnosis, and early initiation of treatment of NCDs
Providing technical support to primary healthcare units to strengthen their capacity to handle emergencies
Support initiatives to improve health outcomes for mothers, children, and adolescents.
Provide scholarships and financial support for high potential students pursuing careers in health sciences, education, or social impact fields
Organize targeted workshops to teachers on health literacy, inclusive education practices, and providing effective psychosocial support
Establish Health Clubs in primary and secondary schools to promote awareness and engagement in hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and reproductive health
Equip schools with digital tools and offline learning resources to enhance educational access and foster digital literacy among students
Host annual competitions and exhibitions to recognize and showcase innovative, student-led solutions to local health challenges
Offer targeted academic and mentorship support to female students to ensure high performance and career success
Conducting, monitoring, evaluation, and research to inform program implementation and scale-up
